In The Same Boat is an environmental non-profit that specializes in cleaning and protecting the Arctic and North of Europe of marine litter. Our mission is to create a plastic pollution free world to ensure a thriving and clean planet for ourselves and future generations.
Your participation in our Arctic sailing expedition actively helps us finance our beach cleaning and educational operations and have a positive impact on our environment.
This isn’t a cruise. It’s not luxury for the sake of luxury. It’s raw, real exploration with impact, the kind of experience you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
Respecting nature and sustainable tourism is at the forefront of our expeditions. Traveling in a sailboat allows us to lower our emissions and we are mindful in having as little impact on the environment as possible.
Join us and become part of protecting the ocean while living your greatest adventure.
This trip starts and ends in Tromsø. The exact itinerary of the trip will be dependent on the weather conditions. Your skippers will create a tailored route to ensure that you will experience the Arctic adventures as well as remain safe.
Out here in the Arctic, safety is the key to adventure. Before we set sail, our skilled skippers will walk you through the essential safety rules and show you how we work together at sea. You won’t just be a passenger, you’ll be part of the crew. That means learning how to handle yourself in an emergency, so that no matter what the ocean throws at us, we’re ready as a team.
You don’t need to be an athlete to join the expedition, but a good level of general fitness is important. Life on board involves active participation, and the Arctic environment can be physically demanding. For your safety and the crew’s, we ask that you are in good health and free from medical conditions that could be risky at sea.
Travel insurance is required.
Living on board is one of the most rewarding parts of the expedition, it’s fun, lively, and brings people together quickly. Life at sea can feel intimate, as you’ll be sharing close quarters with fellow adventurers, but that closeness is what turns strangers into family in no time. As part of the crew, you’ll join in the daily rhythm of boat life, helping with meals, dishes, docking, fueling, and other tasks that keep us moving forward. Working as a team makes everything run smoothly and ensures the journey is enjoyable for everyone.
When sailing in the Arctic, nature is in charge. The wind, the sea, and the wildlife set the rhythm of our journey, and plans may shift along the way. Our experienced skippers are skilled at adapting and will always do their best to give you the adventure you came for. But it’s important to bring an open mind and a flexible attitude, because while we can’t control the weather or predict the behavior of whales, it’s often these unexpected moments that make the experience truly unforgettable
